“It was pleasure working with Beakus. They nailed the brief - bringing the story of artists’ materials to life with engaging scripts and animations that popped on-screen. They went above and beyond to accommodate our specific demands on the projects, leading a workshop with children in pre-production. I would highly recommend working with them.”
We were commissioned by The National Gallery to create a set of three YouTube videos that introduce kids to the make-up and usage of art materials, kicking off with Egg Tempera (above).
We knew it needed to be an artistic and authentic, so we wrote the scripts and then held a workshop at the Gallery, working with a range of children to test the material (literally). We recorded their thoughts, and included some of their paintings and mark-making in the films.
Beakus enlisted directors Angie & Phoebe from ARC Studio to board, design and animate the films, always in close collaboration with The National Gallery’s team. Finally, we provided a range of social media cut-downs, with different screen ratios, for all their platforms - YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
